Jeffrey
S. Baird, Esq., is the
Chairman of the Health Care Group of the Amarillo,
Texas- based law firm of Brown & Fortunato,
P.C. The firm’s Health Care Group has
a large national health care practice with clients
throughout the United States. The Health
Care Group represents durable medical equipment
companies, pharmacies, drug wholesalers and repackagers,
long term care facilities, home health agencies,
hospitals, physicians and other health care providers. The
Health Care Group represents clients in the areas
of advising on fraud and abuse issues; defense
of criminal and civil fraud investigations; defense
of qui tam actions; corporate compliance; HIPAA
compliance; accreditation preparation; mergers
and acquisitions; joint equity arrangements, affiliations
and alliances; reimbursement issues, including
audits and requests for overpayments; supplier
and provider number issues; requirements pertaining
to licenses, permits and certifications; survey
certification and licensing issues; peer review
and credentialing; pharmacy compounding; Food
and Drug Administration regulatory issues; hospital
operational issues; hospital medical staff relationships;
and hospitals/health care organizations in transitional
environments. The Health Care Group works
closely with the Department of Justice, Office
of Inspector General, Centers for Medicare and
Medicaid Services, National Supplier Clearinghouse,
Durable Medical Equipment Regional Carriers, Food
and Drug Administration, and other federal and
state regulatory agencies. Mr. Baird has
authored numerous articles and is a frequent lecturer
throughout the country. He earned a B.B.A.
from the University of Iowa and received his law
degree from the University of Tulsa College of
Law. Mr. Baird is Board Certified in Health
Law by the Texas Board of Legal Specialization.

Karen Moore is Vice President of AnCor Healthcare
Consulting, Inc., a consulting company providing
services to clients in the home medical equipment
and home infusion industry. Ms. Moore has
been providing consulting services to the home
care marketplace for over 20 years. The prior
positions she has held include executive vice president
of MCS Management Services (a division of MCS/MestaMed),
and vice president of HealthTeam Management Services.
Ms. Moore has provided extensive consulting services
over her 20 year tenure including business office
operational and accounts receivable audits, interim
management with a focus on reengineering to improve
financial performance and profitability, training
programs, and system optimization and system conversions. Ms.
Moore has managed the collection of tens of millions
of dollars in accounts receivable and has developed
and implemented efficient and effective work flow
processes as well as developed polices and procedures
for numerous clients. Using a-hands on management
approach to train staff and drive cash flow, Ms.
Moore has earned the reputation as one of the industries
top reimbursement and systems consultants.
Ms. Moore has written articles for industry publication
and conducted seminars for providers, distributors
and physicians as well as state and national trade
associations on the topics of customer service,
reimbursement, office organization, compliance
and coverage criteria.

Bruce
Brothis is the President of Allegient
Billing & Consulting, Inc. (formerly Centralized
Billing & Intake, Ltd.), a 13 year old billing and consulting firm to the
Home Medical Equipment (“HME”) industry located in Elizabeth, CO. The
former Vice-President of Operations for a multi-state HME, Mr. Brothis is a nationally
recognized expert in Medicare, Medicaid and third party intake, documentation,
billing and collections with over 26 years of experience in the HME reimbursement
arena. Mr. Brothis consults with numerous companies regarding billing and
collection issues, operational effectiveness, compliance, accreditation, market
assessment, sales management and contract negotiations. He holds a BA in
Marketing from Bethany College and an MBA with a Marketing emphasis from the
University of Phoenix. He regularly speaks for numerous trade associations,
buying groups, HME / drug wholesalers and industry trade shows as well as being
a regular presenter at both Medtrade shows.
